DAUGHTER OF THE LAST SAMURAI

These katana (swords) are just a few of my father’s collection. My mother and I, after all these years, still couldn’t figure out my father’s obsession with these swords. It is somewhere between, my father, when he was a child would always make a sword out of bamboo trunks, and/or he was poor that his parents couldn’t possibly buy him a toy sword.

But collecting samurai swords is my father’s interest/passion, though now he just started taking on fishing.

I love his samurai swords and even as a child I always sneak a sword exhibition of my own!… it thrills me to swing a 3-4 ft sword and cut air. Because I always imagine myself cool if I ever use a sword to defend myself. And funny enough, I have used it, although not in a warrior will-slash-the-living-daylights-out-of-some-creep, but I use it whenever I had to inspect our backyard in the middle of the night.

And when the movie THE MASK OF ZORRO was shown, it also aroused my fantasy of wanting to be Elena and wish I could do a sword fight with Alejandro /Zorro!

Yes, this is a written confession about my weirdness! -jeannie :)
